The Best Apple Crisp

A delightful and cozy apple crisp dessert, perfect for autumn gatherings and served warm with ice cream.

  • 5 cups fresh apples (sliced)
  • 1/2 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon (for the topping)
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter (melted)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the apples by peeling, coring, and slicing them. Toss with 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, and 1 tsp vanilla extract.
  3. Get the topping ready by mixing 1/2 cup flour, 1/3 cup oats, 2/3 cup brown sugar, 1/4 tsp salt, and 1/2 tsp cinnamon. Stir in the melted butter.
  4. Assemble the crisp in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading the apple mixture evenly and topping with the oat mixture.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for about 35 to 40 minutes until apples are bubbly and topping is golden brown.
  6. Cool for 10–15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an added treat. You can also drizzle caramel sauce on top.
