Sour Cherry Crisp

A deliciously tart dessert that combines the sweet memories of summer with a crunchy oat topping.

  • 2 cups sour cherries, pitted
  • 1 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the pitted sour cherries with 1/4 cup granulated sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon in a mixing bowl. Let sit for 10 minutes.
  3. Mix oats, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and remaining 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon in another bowl. Work in melted butter until crumbly.
  4. Spread the cherry mixture in a baking dish and top with the oat mixture.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  6. Cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a gluten-free option, use almond flour. Frozen sour cherries can be used; just drain excess liquid.
