Hearty Turkey Chili Bowl

A comforting and hearty Turkey Chili Bowl, perfect for chilly days, packed with flavors and family memories.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Ground Turkey
  • 1 can Black Beans
  • 1 can Kidney Beans
  • 1 can Diced Tomatoes
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 1 Bell Pepper, chopped
  • 2 tbsp Chili Powder
  • 1 tbsp Cumin
  • 1 tsp Smoked Paprika
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Olive Oil

Instructions

  1. Cook the Turkey: In a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat, add a splash of olive oil and toss in your ground turkey. Using a wooden spoon, break it apart and stir until it’s browned and cooked through—this should take about 6-8 minutes.
  2. Add Aromatics and Spices: Once the turkey is cooked, add finely chopped onions and bell peppers to the pot. Sauté for about 5 minutes, until softened. Sprinkle in your spices—about 2 tablespoons of chili powder, 1 tablespoon of cumin, and 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika. Stir everything together for 2 minutes to toast the spices.
  3. Incorporate the Tomatoes: Pour in the canned diced tomatoes (and their juices!). Let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
  4. Beans Go In: Now add your drained and rinsed beans into the pot. Stir well to incorporate all ingredients.
  5. Simmer: Reduce the heat to low and cover the pot. Let your chili simmer for about 20-30 minutes.
  6. Taste and Adjust: Before serving, taste the chili and adjust seasoning with more salt, pepper, or a squeeze of lime.

Notes

Garnish with sour cream, fresh cilantro, chopped green onions, and cheese for extra flavor.
