Philly Cheesesteak Casserole

A hearty and flavorful twist on the classic Philly cheesesteak, this casserole features tender beef, sautéed veggies, and melty cheese, perfect for family dinners or cozy nights in.

  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 2 lb thinly sliced beef
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 2 bell peppers, sliced
  • 2 cups button or baby bella mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 2 cups shredded provolone cheese (or slices)
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic salt (or salt + garlic powder)
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Sauté the olive oil over medium-high heat and cook the beef for 5-7 minutes until browned.
  3. Add the sliced onion and bell peppers, and optional mushrooms, and sauté for another 5-6 minutes.
  4. Mix in the cream cheese, then add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt, and black pepper.
  5. Assemble the casserole in a greased baking dish by layering half of the beef mixture, followed by 1 cup of provolone cheese, then the remaining beef mixture, and top with more provolone.
  6. Bake covered with aluminum foil for 25 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until bubbly.
  7. Cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

This casserole can be assembled a day in advance and refrigerated. To add a spicy twist, consider jalapeños or chipotle peppers.
