Oktoberfest Potato Stacks

Delight in the flavors of Oktoberfest with these hearty potato stacks layered with sauerkraut and smoked sausage, infused with beer for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

  • 4 large Potatoes (Russet or Yukon Gold)
  • 2 cups Sauerkraut
  • 1 lb Smoked Sausage (Kielbasa or bratwurst)
  • 1 cup Beer (lager or ale)
  • 1 large Onion
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil

Instructions

  1. Prep the Ingredients: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and slice potatoes thinly.
  2. Sauté the Onions: Heat olive oil, add onions, and sauté until golden.
  3. Build the Layers: Layer potatoes, sauerkraut, onions, and sausage in a greased dish.
  4. Pour the Beer: Pour beer evenly over the top of the layered ingredients.
  5. Bake to Perfection: Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes, then remove foil and bake another 15-20 minutes.
  6. Rest and Serve: Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For variations, consider adding cheese, spices, or different vegetables. Great served with sour cream or chives.
