Beef & Mushroom Pie

A comforting Beef & Mushroom Pie, filled with savory beef and earthy mushrooms under a flaky pastry crust.

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 8 oz fresh mushrooms, chopped (cremini and button)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Sauté the onion and garlic in a skillet over medium heat until soft, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Brown the ground beef in the skillet until fully cooked.
  4. Incorporate the mushrooms and carrots, cooking for about 5 minutes.
  5. Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, simmering for about 10 minutes.
  6. Cool the mixture for a few minutes.
  7. Prepare the puff pastry on a floured surface to fit the pie dish.
  8. Assemble the pie with the filling and cover with pastry, scoring the top.
  9. Add the egg wash on top of the pastry.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a vegetarian variant, substitute beef with lentils or vegetables.
