Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups Bread Flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast
  • 1 cup Warm Water (about 110°F)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Italian Herbs (basil, oregano, thyme)
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese, grated
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle yeast over the top and let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Combine dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together bread flour, salt, and Italian herbs.
  3. Mix the dough: Add the bubbly yeast and olive oil to the flour mixture. Stir until a rough dough begins to form.
  4. Knead it out: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. First rise: Form the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly oiled bowl. Cover and let rise for 1-1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  6. Shape the loaf: Punch the dough down and shape it into your desired loaf form. Place it on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Second rise: Cover the shaped loaf with a cloth and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven: Preheat to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Add Parmesan: Sprinkle grated Parmesan on top of the risen dough before baking.
  10. Bake: Place the loaf in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Cool: Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
  12. Serve & enjoy: Slice, slather with butter or dip in olive oil to enjoy!

Notes
