A delightful French Apple Cake, blending sweet and tart flavors with tender apples in a moist, buttery cake—a hug in a slice!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup (150 g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 Tbsp whole milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3 medium apples (about 1 lb / 450 g, peeled, cored, sliced into thin wedges)
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch (20 cm) round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until smooth and creamy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  6. Slowly add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
  7. Fold in the apple slices gently.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it evenly.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Remove from oven and let cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
  11. Dust with powdered sugar if desired, and serve.

Notes
