Homemade Mozzarella Sticks

Delicious homemade mozzarella sticks, perfect for dipping in marinara sauce and sharing with friends.

  • 16 string cheese, cut in half
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons milk
  • Oil for frying
  • Chopped parsley for garnish
  • Marinara sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients by setting up three shallow bowls for flour, eggs, and breadcrumbs.
  2. Coat a halved string cheese stick with flour, shaking off any excess.
  3. Dip the floured stick into the egg mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated.
  4. Roll the egg-coated mozzarella stick in the breadcrumbs, pressing to adhere. Repeat for all sticks.
  5. Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Test with a breadcrumb; it should sizzle.
  6. Fry the mozzarella sticks for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Garnish the fried sticks with salt and chopped parsley while still warm.

Notes

These sticks can be frozen before frying. For a healthier option, try air frying them!
