Classic Bruschetta: Fresh and Crispy

A delightful Italian appetizer highlighting fresh ingredients with crunchy toasted bread.

  • 1 large French baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
  • 1/3 cup high-quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 2 large cloves of garlic, peeled and halved
  • 1.5 lbs Roma tomatoes, seeded and finely diced
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, chiffonade
  • 2 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil (for the tomato mixture)
  • 1 tbsp balsamic glaze
  • 1/2 tsp flaky sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp freshly cracked black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the baguette slices.
  3. Brush each piece of bread with high-quality olive oil and rub halved garlic cloves on them.
  4. Toast the bread for about 10 minutes, or until golden brown.
  5. Prepare the tomato topping by mixing diced Roma tomatoes, basil, olive oil, balsamic glaze, salt, and pepper.
  6. Let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes to meld flavors.
  7. Assemble the Bruschetta by spooning the tomato mixture onto each slice of bread.
  8. Serve immediately for the best texture.

Notes

Enjoy fresh for the best taste. Tomato topping can be prepared in advance but shouldn’t be assembled until serving to avoid sogginess.
