Baked Apple Donuts

Baked Apple Donuts are a cozy fall treat that combines warm apples and cinnamon. Perfect for breakfast or as a sweet snack!

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup applesauce or apple butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare a donut pan by greasing it or using non-stick spray.
  3. Mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a large bowl.
  4. Combine the applesauce, egg, melted butter, and vanilla in another bowl until smooth.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix gently until just combined.
  6. Fill the donut pan cavities about 2/3 full.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until donuts spring back when touched.
  8. Cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then toss in cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

These donuts are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for a few days.
