Easy Patriotic Pinwheel Cream Cheese Appetizers

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, finely chopped (optional)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup finely chopped red bell pepper
  • 1 cup finely chopped cucumber, seeds removed
  • ½ cup finely chopped green onions or chives
  • ½ cup shredded sharp white cheddar cheese
  • Fresh parsley or cilantro leaves, chopped (optional garnish)
  • Blueberries or small edible flowers (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cream Cheese Mixture: In a medium bowl, blend the softened cream cheese and sour cream until fluffy and well-combined.
  2. Season the Mixture: Add the garlic powder, dill, salt, and pepper to the cream cheese mixture.
  3. Spread the Cream Cheese Mixture: Take a tortilla and spread a generous layer of the mixture, leaving half an inch from the edges.
  4. Add Your Fillings: Layer the red bell pepper, cucumber, green onions, and shredded cheese over the cream cheese layer.
  5. Roll It Up: Starting from one side, roll the tortilla tightly but gently until you reach the opposite edge.
  6. Chill the Rolls: Place the rolled tortillas seam-side down on a plate, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Slice Your Pinwheels: Use a sharp knife to cut the rolled tortillas into 1-inch slices.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Arrange the pinwheels on a platter and garnish with fresh herbs and blueberries or edible flowers.
