  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 12 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups dried sour cherries

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Gather your mixing bowls and whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until pale and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing until just combined, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  5. Combine the dry mixture with the wet, folding gently with a spatula.
  6. Add the chopped bittersweet chocolate and dried sour cherries, folding until incorporated.
  7. Scoop rounded dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space between cookies.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until edges are set but centers are soft.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For a gluten-free option, substitute all-purpose flour with gluten-free flour. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
