Delightful bite-sized truffles capturing the essence of traditional Italian tiramisu with mascarpone cheese, espresso, and chocolate.

  • 1 1/2 cups crushed ladyfingers (Savoiardi)
  • 2 tablespoons espresso or strong coffee
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups dark or semi-sweet chocolate (melted)
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Workstation: Clear space in your kitchen and gather all ingredients.
  2. Mix the Mascarpone and Sugar: Combine mascarpone cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
  3. Stir in the Coffee and Vanilla: Fold in espresso and vanilla extract gently.
  4. Add the Ladyfingers: Fold crushed ladyfingers into the mixture.
  5. Chill the Mixture: Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to firm up.
  6. Scoop and Shape the Truffles: Roll the mixture into balls and place on a baking sheet.
  7. Melt the Chocolate: Melt dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
  8. Coat the Truffles in Chocolate: Dip each truffle in melted chocolate.
  9. Dust with Cocoa Powder: Sprinkle cocoa powder on top before the chocolate sets.
  10. Chill Again to Set: Refrigerate truffles for at least 30 minutes to firm.

Notes

These truffles can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to a week. Try variations like using flavored coffee or adding liqueurs for an adult twist.
