Gourmet Oktoberfest Burger

A flavorful twist on a classic burger featuring a blend of beef and bratwurst, topped with a creamy beer cheese sauce and served on a chewy pretzel bun.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3/4 lb Ground Beef
  • 3/4 lb Bratwurst
  • 1/2 White Onion, finely diced
  • Mustard, to taste
  • Garlic Powder, to taste
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Pretzel Buns
  • For the Beer Cheese Sauce:
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 2 tbsp All-purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Whole Milk
  • 1/2 cup Beer (Wheat, Ale, or Pilsner)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Mustard
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meat Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and bratwurst. Using your hands, gently mix until just combined.
  2. Season: Add in the finely diced onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to taste.
  3. Form the Patties: Divide the mixture evenly and form into burger patties.
  4. Grill or Pan-Fry the Burgers: Preheat your grill or large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for about 4–5 minutes per side for medium-rare.
  5. Make the Beer Cheese Sauce: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour and cook for about 2 minutes.
  6. Add the Milk and Beer: Gradually whisk in the milk and then the beer, stirring until it’s smooth and creamy.
  7. Cheese Time! Once thickened, lower the heat and mix in the shredded cheddar cheese until fully melted.
  8. Assemble the Burgers: Toast pretzel buns, lay down the burger patty, drizzle with beer cheese sauce, and top with mustard and pickles if desired.

Notes

For variety, consider adding ingredients for different burger spins, like spicy jalapeños or a veggie option with black beans.
