French Bread

A classic French bread recipe that is simple yet delightful, perfect for family dinners or cozy nights in.

  • 4 cups Bread Flour
  • 1 ½ cups warm Water (around 110°F)
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons Yeast
  • 2 teaspoons Salt

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining it with warm water and letting it sit until frothy.
  2. Mix the flour and salt in a large bowl, create a well, and add the yeast mixture.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm area until it doubles in size (about 1-2 hours).
  5. Shape the dough into a loaf and seal the seams.
  6. Second rise for 30-45 minutes while preheating the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  7. Slash the top of the loaf and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.

Notes

This bread can be infused with herbs, topped with garlic butter, or made with whole wheat flour for variations.
