Sweet and Savory Fig Onion Spread

A heartwarming blend of sweet figs and tangy red onions, perfect for gatherings or a cozy night in.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1 large red onion, chopped
  • 2 cups chopped fresh Black Mission figs
  • ¼ cup aged balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar (or to taste)

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a medium skillet over medium heat.
  2. Toss in the chopped red onion and sauté for about 8-10 minutes.
  3. Add the chopped Black Mission figs to the pan and stir.
  4. Pour in the aged balsamic vinegar and let it bubble for about 5 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle in the white sugar and adjust sweetness.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a food processor and pulse to a chunky spread.
  7. Let it cool down and serve in a dish.
