La Meilleure Salade de Smashed Potatoes

A fun and flavorful smashed potato salad that combines crispy ingredients with creamy textures, perfect for family gatherings and picnics.

  • 500 g New Potatoes (or Yukon Gold)
  • 50 g Butter Flakes (or Olive Oil for a Dairy-Free Version)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Pepper (optional)
  • 100 g Mayonnaise (or Greek Yogurt for a Lighter Option)
  • 100 g Yogurt (or Non-Dairy Yogurt)
  • 2 tbsp Lemon Juice (or Vinegar)
  • 1 tsp Dijon Mustard (optional)
  • 1 clove Garlic (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Dill
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Parsley

Instructions

  1. Boil the Potatoes: Fill a large pot with water and add salt. Bring it to a boil and cook the new potatoes for 15–20 minutes.
  2. Drain and Cool: Drain the potatoes and let them cool for a few minutes.
  3. Smash the Potatoes: Arrange potatoes on a baking sheet and gently press down to smash them.
  4. Seasoning Time: In a mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, yogurt, lemon juice, Dijon mustard (if using), garlic, half of the dill and parsley. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
  5. Mix the Salad: Pour the dressing over the smashed potatoes and gently fold the mixture.
  6. Chill: Cover the salad and let it chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  7. Final Touch: Stir in the remaining dill and parsley before serving.

Notes

This salad can be served warm or cold, and it tastes even better after melding in the fridge. Dabble with additional vegetables or spices for unique twists!
