Ingredients
Scale
2 cups bread flour
1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup warm water (about 110°F/43°C)
1 tablespoon fresh rosemary (finely chopped)
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
A drizzle of olive oil
Instructions
Mix the bread flour, instant yeast, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Create a well in the center and pour in the warm water and olive oil. Mix until the dough begins to come together.
Add in the chopped rosemary and grated Parmesan. Mix until evenly distributed.
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 60 minutes until doubled in size.
Punch down the dough to release the air, turn it out onto a floured surface, and shape it into a loaf.
Transfer the shaped dough to a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Brush the top of the loaf with an egg wash (if using) for a golden crust.
Bake for about 25-30 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped on the bottom.
Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
Serve warm with butter or as an accompaniment to soups and salads.
