Salted Caramel Cookies

Delightful, soft and chewy cookies with gooey pockets of caramel and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt for the perfect sweet-salty contrast.

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup caramel chips
  • ½ cup chocolate chips (optional)
  • ½ tsp flaky sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream the butter and sugars until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients until just mixed.
  6. Fold in the caramel chips and chocolate chips (if using).
  7. Scoop rounded balls of dough onto a prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden and centers are soft.
  9. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt while still warm.
  10. Let cool for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For a gluten-free option, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free blend. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
