Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  2. Combine the dry ingredients: Whisk flour and salt in a mixing bowl.
  3. Mix wet and dry ingredients: Add melted butter and yeast mixture to flour, stirring until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough: Turn out onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8-10 minutes.
  5. First rise: Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled in size, about 1-1.5 hours.
  6. Shape the loaves: Punch down dough, divide, and shape into loaves.
  7. Second rise: Place in greased loaf pans, cover, and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven: While loaves are rising, preheat to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Bake those beauties: Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden and hollow-sounding when tapped.
  10. Cool and slice: Let cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes
