Baked Ziti

A heartwarming baked ziti recipe that embodies comfort, featuring layers of pasta, marinara, and cheesy goodness.

  • 1 lb ziti pasta
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Italian herbs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the ziti in a pot of salted boiling water until al dente, about 8-10 minutes, then drain.
  3. Mix the ricotta cheese with salt, pepper, and Italian herbs in a bowl.
  4. Combine the cooked ziti with 2 cups of marinara sauce in a large bowl.
  5. Layer a thin layer of marinara sauce in a baking dish, then add half of the ziti mix, half the ricotta mix, and some mozzarella. Repeat the layers, ending with mozzarella and Parmesan.
  6. Bake covered with foil for 20 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  7. Rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
