Colorful 4th of July Cookies

Celebrate the 4th of July with these delightful and colorful Red, White, and Blue Cookies that capture the spirit of the holiday.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 ¼ cups Red, White, and Blue M&Ms
  • 2 tablespoons Red, White, and Blue Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a medium mixing bowl.
  3. Cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  4. Add egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  5. Combine dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  6. Stir in the Red, White, and Blue M&Ms and sprinkles.
  7. Scoop generous amounts of dough onto a baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Underbaking slightly helps these cookies stay soft and chewy. Feel free to mix in different candies to customize your cookies.
